The Western Regional CCDC (WRCCDC) represents California, Arizona, and Nevada. An estimate of 20 schools such as Arizona State, UC Berkley, Stanford, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, etc. participate in the WRCCDC Qualifier to obtain 1 of the 8 slots available at WRCCDC. This prestigious competition provides opportunities for competitors who have an interest to work in the field of information security or cybersecurity.
Currently, CSUN is the a two-time champion within the Western Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition and 5th in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. If you want to participate in CCDC, then please contact the CCDC team coach, doris.chaney@csun.edu
The CCDC Wild Card event provided all 2nd place teams from each Regional CCDC to compete one more time for a slot in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. In May 2020, the CCDC Wild Card event provided all 2nd place teams from each Regional CCDC to compete one more time for a slot in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. The CSUN team placed 2nd out of the 9 teams who competed from each of the 9 regions around the US.
The competitors who win WRCCDC and participate in National CCDC are the best in the US and are sought after by many companies, guaranteeing their choice of careers. For the past 3 years, the CSUN CCDC Team has won 1st place at WRCCDC and has participated twice at National CCDC. CSUN’s Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition team is currently recruiting new members to join the team.
